Photoshop skin retouching

So far this blog has been about photography, but since I know more about photoshop than I do about photography, it seemed like a good place to organize links for that.

These links are all about Photoshop retouching. The techniques have changed and advanced much over the years, so it was time for me to update my skills as well

1) First is removing blemishes with curves.

2) Then there is basic level dodging and burning

3) You can use luminosity masks, covered here. However, this tutorial only covers how to make the luminosity mask, not how to use it. The easiest way is to copy the red channel and make a luminosity mask from it. Then place that over your subject using one of the contrast blend modes to eliminate blemishes. there is a tutorial video .

4) You can use a hue adjustment layer, select the offending color, then color shift it to the same color as the rest of the face.

5) you can blur the blue channel

6) you can merge the high pass filter with gaussian blur

These are some pretty serious tutorials, so make sure you at least have some basic knowledge of photoshop first.
